Becheroni, through his group of sculptures, trenchantly entitled ‘Amazonia - the dischanted forest’, wanted to pay mute and reverent homage to the Amazonian rain forest. He also wanted to throw a sering, stigmatizing spotlight on the drama of this great symbol of nature and life.
For Becheroni, the tree is a member of the forest that has become a symbol of nature at its most prodigal, a phenomenon man is slowly devouring. … and he has given the tree a new lease on life as a personage and protagonist, rebuilt, reinvented, recreated and totemised.
… and the tree hieratically assumes the identity of a memory, an accusation and, perhaps, hope. Becheroni firmly believes in the man/nature symbiosis and hopes for better future, when his sculptures will be seen as a j'accuse of our chaotic era.
